In one of the most exciting races I have witnesses this year, AMAZING SON defeated the 1-2 favorite, PATRIOT MISSLE, in the $20,000 Texas Arabian Derby. In AMAZING SON's one length victory, he has shown the world of Arabian Racing that the team of Robert Knight Racing, AMAZING SON, and jockey Jerry Parenti can take on all comers.

At the start of the race, the field broke in a straight line. As they went into the clubhouse turn, PATRIOT MISSLE and FMR COUNTRY DOC hooked on each other. The field, however, wouldn't give up but 3 lengths until the 3/8 pole. Then in a bold move, Parenti sent AMAZING SON on a trip to be proud of. AMAZING SON took the rail and I heard, "To soon, too soon, no way". AMAZING SON held of the Missle attack down the lane to stretch out an win! The crows stood there in amazement since PATRIOT MISSLE is the top Arabian in the country. Jerry Parenti said at the champagne and winner's cake celebration after the race, "AMAZING SON ran his eyeballs out". As a spectator I will have to agree with that.
